Good morning! I'm here with this week's edition of The Five Best, Five Worst. Let's start with the good news! The top-notch thriller Zero Dark Thirty is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, which has the benefit of allowing you to watch it pretty much anywhere you want - including your couch or bed or even outside if that sounds like more fun. And thanks to piracy advocates like our old friend Kim Dotcom (he who shall not be named), it’s also available online in its highest quality form - 720p HD. What does that mean to you, the consumer? Well, if you’re playing it off a disc, you get it in 1080p. But if you’re accessing it over the Internet - either through your cable or through your nice new smart TV - then it’s not only in 720p but also at 25 frames per second. The last one is particularly important because when films are shot and projected at 24 frames per second, the projectionist will speed up the film to make time pass faster on-screen. This is why when watching a movie like Blade Runner , with its famously slow pace, the film will play so much faster than when you saw it in theaters. (This is also why, when you see older films on TV, the credits really do fly by.) But with Zero Dark Thirty , Kathryn Bigelow has taken extra care to prevent this from happening. And compared to most movies, where it doesn’t really matter, that makes the film that much more immersive. Sadly, not everyone agrees with me on that one. You can read all the arguments in our review of the film at The Five Best . But I can guarantee you one thing - if you have any interest in seeing Zero Dark Thirty , whether it be because of Bigelow's direction or Jessica Chastain or Jason Clarke or Kyle Chandler or Joel Edgerton or Harold Perrineau Jr. or the fact that it’s one of the most talked-about films in recent memory, you owe it to yourself to experience it in its fullest possible condition. That's just common sense, really. So if you haven’t already seen Zero Dark Thirty , then go out and get yourself a copy. If you have the option, do the Blu-ray thing - but even if you don’t, just know that all of your options are there for you. Do whatever works for your home situation - whether that means watching it with friends on your TV or computer or with strangers on an iPad at a bus stop. The point is, you want to see this movie in the best way possible. Got it? Good. Now let’s talk about something that’s not good at all… The one thing that makes America great is its ability to quickly elect representatives who are ready to stand up for its values! Like, say, Tom Cotton! The Harvard-educated Army veteran who won his Senate seat in Arkansas by running against Obamacare and the president’s “softness” towards Iran. The guy who was first elected earlier this month by a whopping 42% of the popular vote. cfa1e77820
