The Veer Zaara is the story of a love that transcends boundaries, filling hearts with hope and inspiration. In a world where it seems there is no place for love, the prospect of finding true love in this harsh world is never far from our dreams. Zainab (Deepika Padukone) and Umer (Ranbir Kapoor) are a Muslim couple who live in a village where their faith is revered by everyone around them. But their faith demands they sacrifice everything for each other – even if it means going to extremes against societal norms – because reasons bigger than what we can comprehend. Zainab is a strong-headed, strong-hearted woman who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. When Umer leaves to pursue his dreams of becoming an air force pilot she doesn’t shed a tear. Not even when he promises that he’ll be back after six months. Umer, on the other hand, is your average bollywood romantic hero who plays by the rules without any reason or remorse. Six years later Zainab hears the news of her husband's death in an air crash. Her world comes crashing down as she breaks down in tears at the thought of it being true. After her world breaks down, Zainab must pick up the pieces and move on, so she lives with her mother and brother in New Delhi. Zainab's mother is a traditional Muslim woman who does not want her daughter to go out alone, but Zainab tells her that she is strong enough to fend for herself. Her brother Ramzan (Shahid Kapur) joins the Air Force without telling them where he has gone, leaving his parents confused. Umer's uncle Subhan (Chunky Pandey) is also in love with Zainab but is too shy to tell her about his feelings for fear of insulting Umer. Zainab finds a job at a telephone call center and one day Mahek (Preity Zinta), the manager, tells her that she seems to talk to herself. Zainab reveals that she talks to her husband who has been dead for six years. This is instantly taken as a psychiatric condition and this is when Dr. Meera Jaswal (Kareena Kapoor) intervenes and suggests that Zainab try speaking to someone about her trauma. She asks her whether talking on the phone helps and after some hesitation, Zainab agrees. Zainab starts talking to a counselor, who is a woman named Mona (Zarine Khan), every Saturday. They talk about their lives and Mona reveals that she lost her family in a terrorist attack in Kashmir. She was close friends with the parents of Zainab's husband. Zainab tells Mona that she once found out that Umer has been inducted into the Indian Air Force and he is now stationed in Mumbai. Zainab then takes the train to Mumbai and stays with Umer's uncle Subhan, his wife Fatima (Nargis Fakhri) and their son Duaaal (Troye Sivan). cfa1e77820
